Denver Colorado East Central
The City and County of Denver and the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District are studying flood and stormwater management in the Upper Montclair Basin. A range of stormwater management strategies were suggested by local residents and business owners during the public meetings held earlier this year. The next public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 30th from 5:30-7:00 pm at Rose Medical Center Physicians Office Building at 4500 E. 9th Avenue (the southwest corner of 9th and Cherry) in the Goodstein Conference Room. This meeting will focus on the possible configuration of Hale Parkway. There will be a brief presentation followed by breakout sessions for the remainder of the meeting.
It is critical as this conversation moves forward that we have a substantial turnout from Bellevue-Hale to allow the planners to hear our concerns about their plans to possibly reconfigure Hale Parkway for flood mitigation purposes, which might include reducing traffic lanes to one lane in each direction and/or moving both of these lanes to the south side of Hale Parkway and vacating the current westbound lane location, and which might involve widening the present medical green space and putting and canal [which one neighbor describes as a ditch] down the middle of it. This could impact ALL of us, especially those property owners who live along Hale Parkway and who have driveways or parking lots which directly exit onto the west bound lane of Hale Parkway.
Hope you all plan on attending this important meeting.
